UGA Terry College of Business
The client needed to modify and modernize previously established audio visual systems for the new Business Learning Center building. This project involved the overhauling of the interface design to be more compatible with user needs and to suit the aesthetic of the updated facility. Spaces included team rooms, labs, auditoriums, classrooms, and common areas.
The Process
Research
I met with the client’s consultant to establish a baseline of needed functionality. I conducted interviews with the user group to talk through opportunities for improvement of the current interface and workflows.
Collaborate
I met with my sales department to establish points of contact and set results-based expectations with the client. My team of engineers and I discussed physical attributes and limitations of the spaces.
Iterate
I created an interface layout, regularly engaging with my programming team to discuss programmatic limitations in my proposed design and possible improvements to information architecture.
Demonstrate
I developed proposals per each room-type for the client to review for functionality and aesthetic. This process gave the client a tangible point of interaction with the interface prior to installation and guided our team to hone in on specific user concerns.
Implement
I generated the file to be programmed, which was then coded and tested in-house to verify functionality. Once testing was completed, the touch panels were installed on site and put to the test by real users for 90 days.
Improve
Throughout the 90 day test period, minor tweaks were made to accommodate any observable obstacles that presented upon daily system usage. Considerations for future expansion and efficiencies were documented.
